SCOTT TEGGE, tuba

Scott Tegge is co-founder and tubist of Gaudete Brass Quintet, a group dedicated to performing and promoting original works for brass. With the quintet, Scott has commissioned over 50 works that develop new voices for brass repertoire. Scott is on the music faculty at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and the University of Illinois at Chicago, serves as the Director of Chamber Music at the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras. He is a frequent guest lecturer on creative career development, entrepreneurship, and building successful teaching studios.

BEN ROIDL-WARD, bassoon

Recently named one of 23 artists who are “changing the sound of classical music” by the Washington Post, Ben Roidl-Ward is the Assistant Professor of Bassoon at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also holds positions as Principal Bassoonist of the Chicago Sinfonietta and the Illinois Symphony and Co-Principal Bassoonist of Sinfonia Da Camera. A leading performer of contemporary music, Ben is the bassoonist of Chicago’s Ensemble Dal Niente and teaches as a Bassoon Coach for the Lucerne Festival Academy (Switzerland). Ben’s dedication to working with and advocating for composers of his generation has led him to participate in the premieres of over 160 compositions to date. He has performed with leading ensembles around the country, including the Chicago Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the International Contemporary Ensemble, and the Grossman Ensemble. Ben received his DMA from Northwestern University, where he studied with David McGill and researched methods of notating the bassoon’s multiphonics. His previous teachers include Ben Kamins at Rice University, George Sakakeeny at the Oberlin Conservatory, and Francine Peterson in the Seattle area.

RENÉE VOGEN, french horn

Renée Vogen is a Chicago-based horn player and educator, currently serving as Instructor of Horn at Northern Illinois University, where she leads the horn studio and coaches chamber music. She has presented masterclasses across the U.S. and performs regularly with major ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Saint Louis, Indianapolis, and Detroit Symphony Orchestras. Renée is a member of the Chicago Philharmonic, Third Coast Brass and serves as Third Horn with the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra.
